I need a part!!

Does anybody know where I can find a part for my 1971 4HP Johnson model#4R710? I need the pull rope assembly. The rope broke on mine and I tried to fix it and the spring came out and there is no way I can get that spring back in it. I pulled it apart at the lake and when I did I plastic washer came out and a regular washer came out. I guess the only parts I need are all the washers and the part that has the spring coiled up inside it. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 71 6hp evinrude, and if it is the same style, they used it for many years after 71 any johnson dealer should have the parts you need, or you can check ebay for the whole assembly, I have seen them there many times for very little money.

Well I called a dealer and they want $149 for the whole starter assembly. He said he could order just the part that holds the spring for $28.00 and the spring for $17.00. He said if I order them seperate then I would have to wind the spring myself. Now I am not very mechanically inclined infact the reason I have to buy it was because I tried to fix it in the first place and the spring came out and I can't get it back in. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do on a tight budget. I want to get the whole assembly so I can just bolt it in but I don't want to pay $149 for it!!!

Take your parts to any lawn mower repair and they can probably fix it for you.
