I am very close to buying a 2007 Baron 2150 Grand Sport. Not having ever owned a boat before I was wondering if anyone could give me some general advice before I make the big $58K plunge.

My purpose for this boat is I want to get back to some serious fishin" after many years off (me and the boy's), but also something I can bring the family out on the lake for SAFE summer fun (tubing etc. kids age 5,8,16) This way I have a dual purpose boat. Concerns: Stability with Aluminum (100" beam). Quality of construction - would the banging around a boat can experience cause rivets, windshields, console etc. to start falling apart? Anyone experience this? I'm putting a Honda 225 w/ Honda 9.9 kicker in it plus many extras, bow cushions, 2 captains chairs, 4-bank battery charger, Minn Kota trolling mtr., snap in carpet, :Lowrance LX11c-HD......well....basically every option I could get.

Love to hear from you d:)

Yes, you will have great stability with the baron. You will also be able to handle some fairly rough water with the high freeboard.

No. You can do a lot more damage to an aluminum boat than one would think. And Lund has set their reputation as the most durable boats on the market.

Lund = 1# in aluminum boat quality (and the price matches too!)

my 87' Mr.Pike has been over loaded (1500# of marker bouys), WAY over powered (130hp on a 75hp rated) , and beat to heck since it was new and it still a great boat though does leak a little, about 1 gallon a day BUT that might have to do with hitting rocks while placing warning bouys for 15+ years.
