I need help I have about had it with this motor!

1979 evinrude 55 hp with a 1985 60 head....smh
The motor cuts out at half throttle and dies. It does idle good sometimes. Carbs are clean I've checked many times. Both butterfly's are closed at idle. Could it be the timing? I thought I was a mechanic but dang all I have had is problems and it's fishing time!

Could be a few things. When you say cuts out and dies....describe exactly what you mean.
You mean it sputters and dies down like it is out of gas, or do you mean it quits abruptly like the key was turned off?

Sputters and dies, possible carb high speed circuits.

Cuts out like key off. Probably the wires leading under the flywheel to the timer base. As they move they can rub and short or open.
