I have an 86 bayliner capri w/125 force, finally got it running, now my switch dosent work. I can turn it on and jump the solinoid it fires right up, have all dash lights. with the eng. off, turn the key and nothing. Im lost on this. i've looked the wiring harness over for fuse links, none. checked the fuses, all are good. connections were a little corroded, cleaned them but no help. was working fine while I was working on eng. when I got eng running I let it run for about 30 min on hose shut it off tried to start again and nothing.

another question I have is; are the little diaphrams (3) in the fuel pump replacable? do they come in fuel pump rebuild kit? I was able to get them out once, 1 was working good, the other 2 were hanging up, I worked with them a little and got them working, then they hung up again. took it apart again got them working again, but I cant get 1 back out. I dont want to damage it if its gonna be hard to be replaced. my fuel pump is the figure 8 looking type, sorry but htats the best way I know to describe it.

Re: I need help lost all power

Either a bad ignition switch or a bad neutral switch in the control box would be my guess.

Yes, the diaphragms are replaceable. Post over in the Force outboard area to attract the attention of the Force gurus (would that make them Jedi masters?).

Re: I need help lost all power

try jiggling the throttle/shift control -- if it works, that means the neutral safety switch is hanging.

Measure battery voltage, if it's less than 12.6 volts, recharge the battery before proceeding. Measure voltage from the solenoid input terminal terminal (small terminal) to engine block with the key turned to "start".

Should be very close to battery voltage. If it's not, move your negative probe to the battery negative terminal and try again.

If the voltage is good there, you have a bad ground, either at the battery post or where the neg battery cable connects to engine block. If not, troubleshoot the keyswitch, neutral safety switch and wiring harness.

If you have good voltage at the solenoid input, and the solenoid doesn't "click", replace it. after verifying that the solenoid has good ground connection.

I found the problem, and boy do I feel dumb! I tried all the suggestions I got here with no change. I looked over the wiring once more, the connection block on the port side of eng has a small 25 amp circuit breaker. pushed the button, aand all is good. thanks for the help

Correction! "All is not good" -- since you didn't determine "why" that breaker popped. They only pop if there is a problem so unless you determine what that problem is/was, it is still potentially present.
