Ok, so I bought an 06' Honda 75 horse outboard used with just under 100 hrs. When I got it it had an idling problem (At that time I had to pull the manual choke out to stay idled and then would have to push back in when accelerating...but it would throttle up smoothly and move a 17' Basstracker very well) Since then I took all four carbs off and soaked/thouroughly cleaned the jets. After I reassembled it the motor would now start right up every time and idle great. However, now I am having a problem accelerating. After the carb clean I put her on the water and warmed her up for a while and took off...well not really. It would accelerate and then bog to the point it would shut off if I didnt pull back on the throttle....sometimes it would die sometimes not. Always cranks right back up and idles beautifully but has poor or next to no acceleration. Therefore, I guess my question is...what now? Any other ideas? Something perhaps non carb related? (dash pot thingy or fuel pump or diaphragm (sp)...PLEASE toss ideas my way...im new to Honda outboards and I really want to get this up and running well. Thanks in advance....and lets hear it from all you knowledgeable folks.

Nobody has any earthly idea where i should begin? I just took the carbs off again and cleaned the jets etc... I am not sure if it means anything but when I pulled the carb bowls off only carb 2 (from top going down) and carb 4 were damp with fuel whereas number 1 and 3 appeared very dry...???? Mean anything to anyone? I want to fish again someday..Please help. Thanks again JB.

Dont know your specific honda but why not remove the drain screws on one and three and try cranking ...no ignition ...and see if you get fuel in the bowels.......even doing this i would keep water to the impeller.
