I need Help.

I have a custom built 15.5' boat. It was built for a Go-devil, now I am trying to run a 1975 25hp Johnson on it. According to the numbers on the engine it is a long shaft. My transom measures 17" and with the engine on it the cavitation plate sits about 2" below the boat. When I run it starts cavitating on me. From what I have been told as long as the plate sits below the boat it should not do this. Can some one help.

adjust your tilt pin, it changes the angle of the motor. you will have to experiment a little. if that does not work, try a mini jacker, jack plate or make on. your AV plate should be even to 1 1/2 inches above the keel. too much foot in the water could be directing water away from the prop.

OK cool. So you think I may have to much in the water then?

Ok going up seemed to make it way worse. I'm starting to think it is a prop problem so I posted a new question in the prop section.
