I need HELP : (

Hello,

I have a 2005 boat with a 5.0Gxi and a duo-prop outdrive.

I recently did my annual service on it, including impeller pump replacement.

On this particular motor the fresh water impeller is located on the front of the harmonic balance/serpentine pulley assembly.

I replaced the impeller succesfully. Prior to the impeller casing removal, I noticed that there were several drops of water coming from behind the casing (the red cylnider that actually remains stationary as the harmonic balancer spins) not the portion that houses the rubber impeller.

There appears to be a seal on the floating case that keeps water from running out of the back of the case while it is running and not running.
I am unsure if this particular seal is replaceable or if the assembly is one complete unit with the pulley.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA?

I am kinda bummed right now.

Thanks for the help
Joe

Yes this seal is replaceable you will have to remove the impellar and housing take the fan belts off remove the 3 large allen head bolts pull the water pump off and now you can remove and replace the seal, cost about $8 bucks at the dealer. Just note the way the old seal was in and put the new one in the same way . Good luck KK

Thanks to Volvo they made my particular pump "unserviceable". The complete unit is 350.00:mad:

I got wind that alot of people are taking the seal out and taking it to a bearing store and matching the seal with no problems.

Hmmmmmmmmm....................Anyone else?
