I have a 1989 gt200stl the revlimiter is kicking at around 1300 r.p.m. I disconnected the temp. switch & it ran great so I ordered new switches & I still have the problem I think previous owner (s) did electrical work so maybe something is loose or missing. Could I just run it with the temp. switches unplugged any help is appriciated

i wouldn't run the motor without the temp switches unless you have enough money or you don't care about the motor....

do you have an alarm? does the alarm go off when you have the switches plugged in? have you tested the alarm, does it work?

Re: I need help

The alarm buzzer works but it is not signaling when the revlimiter kicks on. I should explain when I launch the boat it runs fine then I fish or set whith the motor off for an hour or so when I fire it up it shouldn't hot but it will not rev up or plane out

Verify that you can you hold your hand on the heads for at least 10 seconds, or more, while the motor is running and while the problem is occuring?
