I need the correct cable for my boat...HELP!

ok, i have about a 1959, 14ft lonestar Malibu (aluminum runabout);a 1957 35 hp Evinrude. i need to know the size, kind, brand even?...of steering cable to go up to the steering console....and....i don't want to spend too much money. Need your feedback. want to get this baby in the water before winter!

You're gunna need to provide more info, and pics would help too. Is this a dual cable steering system like the original or has it been replaced with a single?

woodie is correct.

some times the previous owners went to a different steering system than the old cable pully system....the might have gone rotary.

if its just cable pully......we have detailed diagrammes of the system and what to use...

so.....help us help you !

thanks guys. it's the malibu, woodonglass, same boat 'cept its the stripped down shell. The last steering on it was the old spring and cables, original stuff. Previous owner took it all off. The evinrude is ready for a cable control-to-steering wheel. I want to use a rotary cable system because I found a steering wheel and rotary unit. Isn't all I need is the correct cable?

we gotta find out what kind of rotary system you have,,,and i beleive the connections at the motor are different than the cable pully system

What is the difference between the rotary and rack steering systems?
