Would love to see them.

Used to have an Astatic 1104C mic
Used it for years for both CB and Ham..
Different settings for each radio of course.
Sold it about 24 years ago
They just quit making them in 2003 so I had to buy
a used one on e-bay a couple years ago.

Great mic

I'm a bit ashamed that as a truck driver, I do not know everything about CD radios, other than how to use them.

I have an assigned truck now, but I need to supply my own radio.

My past experience is only with the cheapest Cobras, worn out Unidens and a totally worthless, cheap Midland. Not very impressed.

I'm thinking about a Galaxy, as they are supposed to be pretty good.

Don't really need a "big radio", just a good one, in the $90 - $150 range.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks everyone for all of your input.

A guy I work with, sold me a old President "John Q" model, that he had tuned, but had set unused in his back seat for years. I has a range of about 5 miles hooked up to a cruddy antenna.

Five whole bucks!!!

KKP0907 N4ZAW here.. And my father before me was one of the founders of R.E.A.C.T. (that doesn't look right, but it might be).

Y'all took me back in time, to the 70's-80's. A time clouded in the merky haze of keggers (CB breaks) and long nights up with the gang, shootin skip and talkin smack.
My first handle was Barefoot pirate . I changed it when I went renengade and got my first footwarmer to Irate Pirate . We started a club down here called the "Alpha Hotels" (AH#3 here), and the acronym for being called "arseoles" so often.
I had many radios ,but my favorites were the uniden "Presidents", both mobile and base. They came out of the box "FCC-compliant" -- which means they were no better or worse than any other radio you could buy.... But oh, what a solder iron and nippy-cutters could do to them!!!
Add the obligatory PAL vfo, frequency counter or digiscan, power mic, well-tuned kicker/antenna/coax, and it was game-on.
I had many good friends i met ,some no longer with us. Some wherabouts unknown.Only two that i am still in communicatons with.
I'll say this also -- I had much more fun on the old chicken band, than any other part of the spectrum. The closest thing I have found to that fun and comradery is here on the internet in the few forums i participate in.
