Don't take what I am saying as gospel. Double check in the Mercruiser.
I am not a fan of the "Iron Duke" 120 hp engine. Yes, they sip fuel, but they won't get you home quick when a storm is blowing up.
So if your thinking of dropping a 4.3L V6 in you should know there are at least 2 different flavors. The older ones had a mechanical fuel pump and a 2 or 4 barrel carb. IIRC, 175 vs 205 hp. Edlebrock sells the appropriate intake and carb to get you the extra horses.
The new ones were EFI and no way of mounting a mechanical fuel pump. The big win was they had a different head design (Vortec ?) and made 220hp.
