Would the tabs have anything to do with the rpm drop??

If they had not retracted, they became brakes. They produced alot of extra drag. It's like driveing your car with the parking brake on.

Wow......that does make sense. I had set the actuators right in the center position like the instructions said to do. Then I had tested and wasn't happy with the results but I thought that it would of been the prop that was also new. I didn't think that the tabs would have anything to do with reducing my Rpm's. I have now set them to the first positon, setting #1 closest meaning they are fully retracted. As soon as I can get the boat into the water I will hopefully be much happier. Thanks alot fellows!! Very helpful

When you run in the #1 setting then move to the #2 setting and run again, there should be a balance somewhere that gets the boat out of the water and on plane quicker and you can still raise trim and bring the bow up and out of the water. The balance may even be in the #3 setting, you just need to run it and see which one works best. At this point I would find a way to tie the tabs completely up and run to see what the rpm is, get the boat propped right then work on setting the tabs to improve everything from that point on.

Even with the tabs retracted fully they probably still have some affect on pushing the bow down. Especially if the tab is mounted even with the bottom. If it's up a 1/4 to 1/2" then they'll have less affect but still some. Remember, water comes off the hull on an angle. The end of the tab would have to be pretty far up to let the water miss it completely.

Dhadley......I'm not sure if I would want to have the tabs miss the water, I think that would defete the whole purpose of installing the tabs. I added the tabs to achieve out of the hole quicker and uliminate the chine walking. Also.....I read that I would gain mph plus be more fuel effecient and stay on plane at less speed. So far at this point, I do jump out of the water but loss rpm's. I'm hoping it is just the setting of the tabs. I also went down to a 17p from the 19p. As soon as I get a chance I will test it out with the tabs fully deployed and the new prop.

I understand. I just wanted you to be aware that the tabs probably do have some effect even when full up. Some people think that if they are full up it's the same as not having them and that's rarely the case. They probably do help a lot from holeshot thru mid range, especially at cruise. But if you're testing for top rpm just keep in mind they probably do have some effect on keeping the bow down slightly.

I use mine all the time. Mine are recessed which means when full up they are part of the hull, nothing past the end of the stern. They sure help a lot in shallow water and at cruise.
