I Paid $4.42 for Gas! I'm mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore!

Ummm..


well; I'm not all that mad and I guess I'll have to take it if I'm going to go boating again...

It was at Lake Shasta in Northern California. Middle of August (not a holiday weekend even...) Gas prices in town there hovers around $3.35 for 87.....but prices at the Marinas on the lake ranged from $3.99 to $4.99...with most being closer to the high than the low. In fact...only one marina that I checked had the $3.99 price...Holiday Harbor.

I had a rental boat so I had no choice but to re-fuel at the Marina upon return..... $4.42

Are any of you local Shasta boaters and if so do you get a "locals" discount?

It would seem that the local boat delaers in that area would be upset at the gouging....it certainly can't be helping their business...

Obviously the cost of supplying fuel is higher at Marinas....but it certainly seems that these guys are taking it to a rather high extreme.

Comments anyone?

I paid $2.37 this morning for 87 octane in Missouri. $4.42 ouch...!!

Must just be that area, everything here in So Cal is under $2.60 now.

Just fell to under $2 yesterday here in St. Louis. Actually it is $1.98, just in time now that boating season is coming to a close.

What is the date of the post? Doesn't matter. The way prices are going this year they will be right back there.

The first post talks about a price at a MARINA. Every other post in this thread is about prices falling as the season closes......to below $2. At the Marina I am sure prices are way way above the $4.42 that started this thread.

So.....The way prices are going this year they will be right back there........we can only hope

Because I am damn tired of hearing news reports of the average price being 30 to 40 cents below what we have to pay in California

You think that you are the only ones paying $.30-.40 above the national average? Right now I am paying $.37 more than the AAA average as of 3pm today. Its the price we pay for living in the states we do.

You know damn well the marinas gouge you as much as they can. Since youre a captive audience you really dont have much of a choice but to pay their price. Unfortunately its human nature to screw each other over.

You guys have it good. In Ontario, our gas prices just jumped last night 10 cents a liter, or 40 cents a gallon. We are now paying $4.40 a gallon CND. The sad part about this is Ontario is one of the cheapest provinces to buy gas in. I am dreading the price that the marinas are going to charge.

Makes my 5 hp outboard and local lakes seem a whole lot nicer. Still, the gas prices do make driving a pain.

Agreed. I rather enjoy the fuel economy of my 25hp.

Up to 3.50 here.
