I was drafted into the Vietnam war in 1972. I didn't agree to that war, and I don't agree with this war. If Bush would get his head out of his *** and use some of that war money to build or upgrade our refinerys, the price of gas would be cut in half. 3.19 here in Ct.

Why would Bush set any kind of oil standards, when he is in the oil industry himself? He's just profiting from these prices. Here in central oregon, we are paying more than people in S. california, the highest besides Hawaii. Current price is $3.43.

The refineries are not govt' owned nor are they run by the govt', they are publicly traded entities that are in business to make a profit for their shareholders.
Bush nor the Congress have any say on what the price of gas should be, that is decided by the free market system.

Supply and Demand... They have the Supply so they make the Demands! Time for price and profit contols and if the companies will not cooperate... Nationalize them for the common good.

Our health care system was very good, until the political right gained power and started butchering it in order to push privatization. We have had 15 yrs of very right wing ideology and most things have gone to crap. Phone company was privatized and phone rates have almost tripled. Infrastructure is in shambles, enviromental laws are rarely if ever enforced, there are almost no social safety nets so we get to see lots of young women on street corners. Oh yeah, there was a very large tax cut for people who made over $100,000.

One thing your government did very well, until the republicans took power in the late 60s, was NASA. The Apollo moon program was a Government run, private company assembly program which was very well managed. What happened to NASA after Apollo was idealogicly driven by people who hated to see or acknowledge anything good by government. With underfunding, the resulting delays and poor redesign the space shuttle was born. A technological masterpiece to be sure, but also full of short comings. The 1980s were a real disaster for NASA. Poorly conceived ideas by the people placed in charge, driven by political belief that the shuttle could be run as a profitable business pretty much sealed the fate of Challanger and its crew. You guys had something really good there and your leaders let away.

Actually the party in power does have it's roots here in Alberta as a very right wing party. Right now they in running a minority government(The most seats but less than half of the avialible seats), so they are quite careful as what they do. The Prime Minister has been able to keep the lunatic fringe of his party under control so far. However every so often one of them surface with goofy ideas. At a very quick glance their ideas sound harmless enough, but once it is looked a bit very scary. Abortion is popular topic as are things like prayer in school, butchering of our Bill of rights, complete banning the use of medicinal Marijuana, the list goes on. The previous government was drafting legislation to decrimialize it. Without too much effort they willl **** off enough people and they will be out at the next election.

Well gas is $3.69 on the water in Lake Norman, NC. But the girls that pump the gas are in bikini's so I guess its worth it.

BTW, non-marina gas is $2.49 in Rock Hill, SC. It's .10-.15 higher in NC due to the excessive taxes from a Democrat controlled state legislation.

I filled up my trusty red plastic gas cans at Wawa last weekend for $2.45 US a gallon and happily lugged them all in my truck back to my dock and filled up the bowrider 5 gallons at a time...It's time consuming and less than convenient but that's a small price to pay considering the gas-dock alternatives. (by the way - the Wawa is essentially around the corner from the boat location, lest anyone mention the cost of the gas to drive back and forth to Wawa...)
