i really need help!! please with putting lower unit on

i have 1976 85hp evinrude outboard putting the lower unit back on after changing water pump i bent the two copper tubes that go into the water pump i need to know how to change the tubes if someone could help me please if someone has a picture that would be great any info would be really great thank you

joe I can almost hear your thoughts as you read this like "I don't need to hear this" but you really need to get a shop manual. It has diagrams and pictures. They are also available in the reference section of many libraries.

There are two plastic sleeve's that act as guides when installing the gearcase. These are first stuck into the water pump gromments, and act as quides for the copper water pump tubes. Unfortunately, they always stick to the water tubes instead of staying in the water pump gromments, so when pulling the gearcase, you don't even know their, there. Look up into the exhaust housing, and you will see them still on the water tubes. Pull them off, straighten tubes with a needle nose pliers, (this is soft copper tubing), and start over. You have to pull the power head to replace these tubes. If you distort tubes with needle nose, close the pliers, and use as a flairing tool to round out tubes.
