I have a Volvo Penta SX .4.3 GL and ran into a problem while aligning the engine using an alignment shaft. The adjuster nut on the right motor mount was frozen and I could not get it loose. I hoisted the front of the motor up about two inches to gain clearance and took out the motor mount so I could put it in a vice and free up the nut. Several hours later I went to put the motor mount back in and realized that I hoisted up the motor without first removing the alignment shaft. I tried pulling it out with the motor still hoisted but it would not come out. It would turn but it was very hard. I then let the motor down on the adjuster nuts that I has adjusted down several turns and the shaft slid right out. I then checked the alignment again and the shaft easily slide all the way in and turned easily, Before I made the adjustments the shaft would only slide about an inch into the coupler on the back of the engine. My questions is, could I have damaged anything by hoisting the engine up 2" with the alignment shaft in and letting it sit with that pressure on it for several hours? Thanks

probably didnt damage anything, the gimbal bearing does rotate quite a bit and seeing as how the alignment is good now there's little chance of any damage
