Re: I sold the goat.

I loved those newer GTO's. Everyone else seemed to hate them and thought they were boring. I liked the simple, clean design.

On a bright note, we had a 2004 Pacifical and LOVED it. Sadly we had to sell it because it got worse gas mileage than your GTO probably would if it was towing a house trailer :O

Looks like a Holden Monaro to me, not really a GTO. Still one of the best cars GM has sold for years, nice vette motor. Hate to say it but I.....voice of experience.....know you will be kicking your self down the road. Keep track of the car buy it back in five years

Re: I sold the goat.

Oh ! Horrible News ! I just recently got my old friendly Cobra license plates renewed for the year and out on the road just last weekend.
We were debating selling it too, it only gets used 4 months a year and was alot of fun when it was just the 2 of us but with a baby girl now almost 3 years old we have not gotten alot of use out of it in the past few years.
We use to go for cruises in the STang and now kinda prefer cruising the Exploder, and I like the looks of the Ford Edge SUV.

The Mustang is small, dark inside, loaded with blind spots, manual shifting, cramped quarters and hard to get in and out of with the hugging seats.
I'm glad to report after putting about 200 miles on it last weekend I am prepared to keep'er another year, guess I'm a sucker for that blower whine..........

A local Serviceman here was/has/is selling his built to the hilt GTO I think he claimed $50k invested and had to sell for $20k, went 10.16 @ 134 on the sauce.

I didnt know they brought back the "old name" when they tried to bring back the GTO.......Maybe thats one of the reasons they just didnt make a hit. Too many names and not enough history of the new model to justify the old name.

Thats a nice car, you're going to miss it. I own a 1967 Chevelle and its practically my second wife. Its a four door so its not as desirable to most people but, it was my first car and I cant see myself letting it go. The 250ci was yanked out 11 years ago and a rat(more animal talk) is now in its place.

That GTO in the pics was actually one of the good quality cars GM had. The performance was worthy of the name also.

Its a sad day when someone says "too many toys", NEVER too many. But one day responsibility triumphs over a boy's desire for bigger and faster toys. And it was a pretty one at that. Sorry... the mini van will cost you less in the long run and your wife will get more of your attention. You'll get the toy back one day!

I feel for ya..heluva car..
To be perfectly honest, we had a bit of a $$ crisis this week while I am here in TN for work..So much so that I put my beloved project boat on Craig's List...I was devastated to put her up for sale...Called my other half to tell her I did and she told me to take it off, we will work it out..

that was a little too close......

GM and Chrysler are both bankrupt. You're hosed either way now. Bummer.

Those certainly are impressive performing cars. Too bad they look like every other grandma Pontiac made in the past 20 years.

The G8 is the only reason I hate to see Pontiac go. However its nothing more than a meaner looking Impalla SS

Re: I sold the goat.

I grew up in a GM dealership family (Pontiac & Oldsmobiles - Grandfather opened the dealership). We sold the dealeship in 1991 - not looking to sell, but a man came along that REALLY wanted to buy. It is sad to see both name plates going/gone. :(

I still have my "Smokey and the Bandit" 50th Anniversary T/A and there are some other older muscle cars in the family. Still looking for that '65 GTO and '69 T/A ... someday I will find them at the right price and in the right shape ...

NO NO NO!!!!!

The G8 is a rear drive Australian built, proper sporting sedan. You can/could get it in three trim levels....V6, V8 or bigger V8. It is the best "bargain" priced sedan GM has sold in the US in the last decade or more.

The Impala. Well, it is typical GM. It is a boring front drive sedan that is better off as a rental car then just about anything. The SS model sounds real nice with the V8 but it is the same chasis and is still front wheel drive. Nice attempt to make the car competitive but not enough.

There are no shared parts between the two cars.

The G8 GXP is sort of a poor mans CTS-V. It has the LS3 Corvette motor that cranks out 415 hp and can be equiped with a 6 sp manual. MSRP starts at $38k.
