Ok, need quick help on this one, i checked other posts on the forum here, and read that most of the fuel pressure regulators are at or near the top of the motor, or fairly easily accessable. I have a 2000 350 Mag MPI, dealer is telling me that i need a new fpr, and the part is just under 200, and 4 hours of labor to get to it. They are telling me they have to lift the block out of the boat to get at it. Not making sense to me. Can someone help me quick, so i can make a phone call in the morning.

While I dont know where the FPR is, 4 hours to remove the drive and engine, replace the reg. then reinstall the engine and drive, and do it all correctly is really moving along in my mind.

Unless someone that knows says this right id have to call BS here.
Just my thoughts, I cant do race engine in that time, and they are real easy to do.

Send a PM to JustJason and ask him to read this, He should know the answer.

Bifflefan, your BS detector is faulty on this one. The regulator is ON the fuel pump, which is located down on the port side of the engine, just behind the front motor mount. You have to remove the engine (or at least take it loose to tilt it up) to change it. Sorry, this one's legit. The first time my dad had to do it for a friend, he nearly cried, but that's the way he had to do it.

The pressure regulator is mounted on the fuel cooler in the "Cool Fuel" box that Merc placed behind the port front motor mount. Sorry setup to say the least.
You might want to check the time on that estimate. I would bet it's 14 hours not 4 hours, and yes pulling the engine is the only way on some boats with little access. It takes 4 hands to put all that stuff back in the cool fuel box and everything has to be perfect or you wil have leaks.

Gotta love when people yell BS when they don't know anything about what they are talking about.

Item 4 is the regulator, 14 is the cooler, and 18 is the fuel pump.

Don S. and others who explained this to me, thank you so much, i feel better about not getting screwed. I was given an estimate of 850 for the part and the labor, plus having a serpintine belt put in while they have it. And i'm guessing the belt isn't too cheap, 50 to 75 bucks, i'm guessing. Don, just so they get this rite, they said its only pushing 20 psi, they didn't say when, at idle, or at a higher rpm, i think from what i read it does matter. Do these parts just go out, or what. It was running great before i took it back in about a month ago for a new power steering actuator, or piston ram. Then took it out last weekend, and and a hard time starting, and wouldn't get up on plane, once it did finally, just a lack of power. Now they took it for a ride today, and said they got it to plane out, but then it would fall on it's face, different symptoms, different day. I was thinking crossed wires, or a bad injector. What about a pinched hose when they put the motor back in.
