Link, I think it is interesting that as a sales person, you refer to the boat as a "fourwinds". I thought they were Four Winns?

Better overpowered than underpowered. The 260 merc and drive is a great combo. If it ever breaks it is easy to fix and parts are available everywhere.

OK, I just got back from the dealer. The Outdrive says "Alpha One 230/V8" on it. So, part of the answer to the ongoing question is that I'M A BLASTED IDIOT!!!!!

I apologize PROFUSELY for the confusion.

While I was there, I did manage to write down the numbers on the stern of the boat. Anyone know anyplace I can look up the information based upon these?

Sean

Figured it out -- the hull id numbers don't do much other than tell you when it was certified and who the manufacturer is. Woopie!

Sean

EE,

Check the engine not the outdrive. They may have replaced the outdrive and the deacals reflect the original boat it was removed from.

You are correct. Check the hour out when I posted. (West coast time) Had the Alarm set to 3AM to change wood and meat in the smoker. Four Winns! Happy now :)
Good thing I didn't post at 5AM when I changed it again, might have called them Five Winds :D

I had a 17 foot Arivee I bought in 1984 with the 305 four barrel OMC rated 215 HP. It was an outstanding ski boat for pulling and ran 50MPH on a 19 prop. Could pull three single skiiers up.

The major problem with an V-8 in a boat that small is weight. Mine was special ordered and the boat was not designed for that much weight. You had to put people in the front to get the bow down and it didn't run well in rough water....

Most of my time was on the river... loved the boat.. there is no substitute for horse power....
