Hello Everyone:
I have a 1977 SRV200 Sunrunner with the Ford 302 888 Drive. I have been plagued by a Tilt Trim issue and a Starting Issue with the boat since I got it 1 year ago. The issue is Drive will tilt down fine, go up fine, then it either wont so much as click when going down, or it will go down but wont so much as click when I am trying to get it to come back up. Sometime if it wont come back up, I can put the boat into reverse or forward with the throttle that will cause it to start working and it will tilt back up. It is the strangest issue.
Also when I turn the ignition switch on and go to crank the engine, I will hear a click in the back by the engine and all power will die. If I unplug the battery and hit the breaker, then plug the battery back in, it will restore power but may or may not allow me to turn the engine over. It will just click again and no power. After awhile of screwing around disconnecting batteries and reconnecting it will turn over and start fine.
What I have done so far is to replace tilt trim solenoid, have tilt trim motor rebuilt. Drained and replaced all tilt trim fluid. Made sure the wiring is connected properly.
For the starting issue, I have replaced the battery with a new one, and that is about it.
I think I have some sort of a wiring issue, or something going on with the electrical system. I need the boat to be reliable as I use it for fishing on the great lakes. Anyone from Wisconsin that has intimate knowledge of this system??? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
BillWI
