Bit long , wanted too supply details on how everything played out with my new Regal

Last week purchased a 2003 28.6 Regal Commodore
Engines are twin Volvo 4.3 GXI
450 hours, new rises manifolds, well maintained trailer cruiser

Boat was at a consignment shop ( they know nothing about boat ) .

After viewing boat very next day we met at river for water test ,( with salesman )

Boat ran poorly, told sales man not interested.

Ran like it presently does, cant get up on plane ??

Thinking it was a salesman not knowing boat, he calls saying if I am still interested in boat owner will gladly meet me for another test

Figured why not. .

Seller is an avid boater, a marine school teacher, and says nothing wrong with this boat .
Sure enough Boat ran great, 45 minutes, hard test, up on plane and out on pocket like a bullet
Fuel was sitting 9 months and I questioned but owner felt it was fine and was between empty and 1/4 tank ,running so good and after 45 minutes there was not much fuel remaining

After that test, boat was exactly what we were seeking , our retirement cruiser . My present day walk around fishing walk around a good boat offers little in comforts for extended trips

Gave deposit , Days later purchased boat, took too a marina. Added 1/2 tank of marine fuel too an almost empty tank .

Take boat out for our first spin all excited but nervous. This is a larger boat then I am used too plus twin engines were new too me

WOW very disappointed, did the same as first trip, no energy, cant get up on plane bow all the way up in air, stern digging in so deep that stern was covered by water , dangerously low that water could have entered thru door and flood engines. ????
Boat is new too me, don't handle properly, not used too trim/ tilt or adjusting trim tabs but cant gain enough speed too even worry about any adjustments
I always had a boat, knowing boats, just not used too this one yet I still know boats and how too drive

RE- CAP
Ran bad sea trail
Going out with old owner Ran great ( same load of fuel )

Purchased boat

Taking out on maiden voyage ran bad ????????

Old owner said many times any issues call him
Telling him its running like crap come down too marina. l

He had nothing too hide, was not a case no guarantee buyer beware, he really liked this boat and wanted us too enjoy it
He comes down, takes it out, hits throttles, and same , digging in . cant get out of its own way
He was very disappointed and did not understand what was wrong ???

Changed fuel water filters on both engines

Have 12 gallon fuel tank will supply fresh fuel too both engines, take for a short spin

I am used too carb on my mercruiser. Knowing nothing about fuel injectors
Both engines sound the same, both run poor which leads back too fuel

Could bad fuel infected both fuel injectors?
Heard something about low pressure on fuel injectors will cause same problem , but bad injectors on both engines ??
Could bad fuel cause duel injector problems, HOW TOO CLEAN, ? will running new fuel from a separate tank into the fuel injector pumps clean .
Is there any filters in pumps , ?
Fuel tank is plastic 105 gallons with no ability too get too unless I pull engines or open floor
I see hoses, and lines going too engines, could both pick ups possibly be clogged
ANy good leads is appreciated

Ayuh,...... Bein' a Carb guy, I'm of little help, But,....

Run it on a remote fuel tank, to rule out yer hull's fuel system,....
Right to the fuel filter, just ahead of the fuel pump,....

Are ya checkin' the Contents of the fuel filters yer throwin' away,..??
If not, yer wastin' a valuable diagnostic tool,....

Yep
dumped fuel from filters into wide open container too clearly view No water ,
port engine had some small black particles,
Starboard engine fuel was clean
Replaced with new Volvo filters

Was at boat yesterday, added fuel additive
Generally do a lot of my own work, have a retired mechanic friend doing me a favor and driving too boat too go over this
issue plus general inspection of this new purchase. Since he will be there let him take boat out, see how it runs and let him hook up the extra tank with fuel I purchased . Put a double valve so both engines can work together

Something I noticed yesterday
Boat in water at marina
Filling water fill holding tank easy on land, lot more difficult while in water as its on starboard side and no direct access . Need long screw driver too open, but I am mentioning this cause I noticed once water tank is full, and the water is coming thru top it is traveling down side of boat towards stern and running past fuel over fill ???

On this boat fuel fill is at stern above swim platform along with waste empty

Over fill for fuel is along starboard side along with other drains

Incline of boat all water travels too stern .

I am watching over fill water traveling around fuel over fill drain ????

Don't believe there is a flap in fuel over fill especially vapors need an area too escape ??
Water could be entering fuel tank thru over fill hose ??

Any body have similar boat with same issue ???????

saga continues

Ayuh,.... The fuel tank Vent line, should go from it's thru-hull fittin', Up, 'n then loop down to the fuel tank,.....

That way, any water splashed in it will run back out, rather than into the fuel tank,....
