Re: I think i'm in love !

I was just going to ask, if they made V-Hull Bow Riders ! Anyone know the names/models that they made 70's/80s of a V-hull bow rider ? Has anything aluminum been made to have such spacious spaces ?

As oops wrote, Bayliner made the Capri, but almost all manufacturers have bowriders, and but for a few exceptions, they will all be deep V-hull and fiberglass. That said, if your really want aluminum, look towards fishing boats that have comfortable seating.....Lund, Sylvan, Ranger, etc. Most of these are aluminum, but will undoubtedly all be Outboards.

Go to "The Years" section at classicglastron.com and start about 1976. You'll see more V-hull bow riders than you can shake a stick at ranging from 15' up. I personally own a '76 V-195. Great boat.

Larson, Bayliner, Sea Ray, etc. all made boats in this category.

My first boat was a 15' Beecraft with a 50 horse Merc o/b tri-hull,Which looked a lot like this boat. Altho I wanted the tri-hull Grastron (a much better boat!!) It was a fun boat till I blew the little mercury up:mad: It didn't ride that nice but we kept it on a pretty small lake, so most of the memeries I have of it are good ones... I do have my Glastron bowrider now and love it:D

First boat was a 17' Glastron - tri-hull -volvo penta
Tough as nuts - rough as nuts - nuts everywhere in any type of chop. Stable, but rough - seems the message is the same here. Hope that helps.

Re: I think i'm in love !

take a rubber mallett to the transom......beat on it.....it should sound solid.
and every inch of the deck must be solid.

also before you buy.....drag it to a self weigh scale. and weigh it......subtract the weight for the motor....the trailer.....(remove the gas tank)

if the hull weight is over 75 lbs high.......there will be a water logged situation.....and you are in for a world of work.

but that boat looks like it was well kept up......and the 70 johnny is a great motor

good luck

Lots of good advice! I would also look at availability of parts for engine. a friend bought a small older speedboat, engine parts were hard to find and expensive. My .02

Re: I think i'm in love !

The boat and motor i found out are a 77, and this is what he had to say about it

"floors solid, motor starts rightup.tuned2yrs ago.no leakdown done , I ma 6ft 1in 290lb need some thing big enough thank you no keel dry-rot soft-spots damage at all"

"had boat out last aug impeller,water-pump work fine, floors have never been re-done to my knowledge.two bench on sides all carpet, storage under them."

",motor runs good, starts right up, top good, boat solid"

If the boat is as "solid" as he claims, but not knowing about impeller maintenance, what yall think its worth ?
