Not laughing. I've done everything you have done, just been at it longer. [and there was no internet to give me bad advice].

Re: I think my forward gear has worn out

Silvertip and Joe you were right . I hooked the cable back up and notice the cable was not pulling the gear far enough. Then it came to my attention that this was you guys were trying to tell me. I can become hard headed and idiotic sometimes. I was assuming it was much worst and plainly had doubts. I am guessing that inside I was aggrevated by something being so simple. By being simple it meant that I could have simply corrected the situation at the river rather than waste about an hour and a half trying to get it back to the ramp.LOL

Apologizes to both.

Thanks Ezeke, Silvertip and Joe. I have learned a couple things from each and one of you.

Ezeke glad to hear I am not the only one d:)

My Propeller will probably be next now that I managed to turn hub a little less than 1/16th :%

Now what's the right way in adjusting the cable?

OK, got the gear shifting very smoothly. Before it was alot louder when I thought it was going into gear but now its quiet and smooth when shifting. d:)Have came up with another problem I don't know if may be bumped into something or what but my RPM guage is not reading now. :| . For now though I'm just glad the gear is working.

First -- don't beat yourself up because you didn't understand our instructions. We do this so much that we tend to forget that some folks do not have a large inventory of technical skills. As for cable adjustment, here ya go! 1) engine off, 2) in the water or out -- doesn't matter. 3) remove the engine cover. 4) disconnect the shift cable at the engine. 5) Place the throttle/shift lever on the control box in neutral. 6) disconnect the shift cable at the engine. 7) make sure the shift lever on the engine is in neutral. 8) without moving anything, bring the attachment on the shift cable back up to the point where it attaches to the shift lever. DO NOT HOOK IT UP! 9) If the cable and the lever do not line up excactly, turn the trunion (the threaded barrel on the shift cable) one way or the other until the two points line up exactly. 10) Attach the cable. Now shift into forward (ENGINE OFF) and see if you can turn the prop. If you can still turn it you either adjusted the cable wrong, the cable is stretched or the control box is worn. Do not try to adjust the cable to compensate for a stretched cable or worn control box as you will not accomplish anything. Repairs must be made. If the unit now shifts normally go fishing.

Darned if the number eight and the closed parenthesis didn't pop the sunglasses face in there. Nothing intended John.
