I too have always thouht that congress was intended to run the country.

I don't think that's right. It's the President's job to run the country, kinda like a General Manager. It's Congress's job to pass laws and appropiate money for him to do that job.

Congress has one other big job as well, and that is oversight of the executive branch.

Certainly our current mess is not all Bush's fault. The RepublicanCongress has to take a significant part of the blame by ignoring their oversight responsibility in rubberstamping everything this administration has done.

LMAO... If, heaven forbid, your party ever gets control, I think I'll just follow Rolmops, and get the he11 out of this county... nothing could be worse than the socialist plan of the democrats.

Writing to your representatives is NO different than asking a question on this board.

If you send an incomprehensive letter in ALL CAPS, it's trashed. Or a letter with an all "run together" paragraph or sentence, again-trash.

We tend to overlook those "styles" on this electronic media.

I've seen results by sending letters that are well written and make sense. Our representatives are too busy (that's another topic) to put up with mindless drivel e-mails.

Want results? Write a letter that can be understood. You'll be surprised.

Maybe a little tact on my part my help. My senators have not responded to my communications but as I have said they are much the mold of W and probably would not respond to my satisfaction if they did so.

Now, back in the Clinton days, when all we ever heard from the right was whining (and worse) about the president, did you write your congressman to complain? Was criticizing the president seen as shameful or an act of treason, like it is today?

No, I didn't. I was mostly in high school then, and didn't have a clue about the world.

Folks he is correct.

E-mails / poorley written letters / phone calls (rants) are disregaurded. (File 13) Trash.

The last time I looked up the stats, one well written letter = 6 others that did not take the time to write. For a total of 7 people with the same idea. Polcats take notice.

And you will get a reply most times. (from both parties)

I can only work on a national level. Because "ALL" of Washington State is controlled by just three counties.
And they even "Brag" about it. (See Hauts) posts.

He has the right to gloat! The Demoncrates are smart! And fight dirty!

Hmmmm, just doesn't seem right. If your well educated and know your grammer, you'll be listened to. If you don't know how to read or write, your not worth listening to. To me it is just another click of college educated idiots shutting out those that are not as fortunate to have a higher education or any education at all. Its the mentality of "I'm better than you because I've been to college ".Regardless of education, a politican should listen to any voter that inquires to them. After all a voter is a voter and they all count in the end. At least we all know they are surpose to be anyway.

Hmmm.... I was taught to read and write in grade school, then they refreshed the lessons all the way until I graduated high school, guess you just had to pay attention. 8)

Not sure of your point custom. Do you believe a citizen is less important because of their education or lack of it regardless of the reason for it?

No, my point was that you don't have to be college educated to read and write.... that is taught in public schools, if you didn't pay attention and learn the skill, it's no ones fault but your own.

I agree that it is their own fault. What does that have to do with being heard?

Re: I wanna know...

Ok, but.....? You have not answered my question. What does an education or the lack of, have to do with being heard? Your quote is below.

"Hmmm.... I was taught to read and write in grade school, then they refreshed the lessons all the way until I graduated high school, guess you just had to pay attention."

Your above quote was in response to;

"Hmmmm, just doesn't seem right. If your well educated and know your grammer, you'll be listened to. If you don't know how to read or write, your not worth listening to. To me it is just another click of college educated idiots shutting out those that are not as fortunate to have a higher education or any education at all. Re: I wanna know...

It shouldn't have anything to do with it, but it does.... fact of life.

If I run across a post with no punctuation, just 200 words strung together in one long sentence, I skip it... to hard to make any sense out of it. I'm sure politicians are the same way.

If you are spelling challenged, use a spell checker. Breakup your ideas into sentences with a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end... all simple stuff we learned in grade school.

It does no good to complain about the way the world works, learn the rules and it will work for you.

I guess you agree with SS's original point afterall. I find it amusing that people argue points they tend not to agree with for the simple reason of who made the original point. You tried to be a good republican. That is all that matters.

QC, I'm not trying to spin anything. You have applied these quotes to circumstances which you see appropriate, as have I. I simply agree with both quotes. I know what you are implying. However, these quotes can be applied to many different situations, not just today's politics.

Do you have some reading challenge? My only point was that it isn't a college thing, has nothing to do with a persons level of education, unless they have none. And if they have none, it's their fault, not the world conspiring against them.

I'm not a Republican. I'm not a Democrat, and I'll thank you to not make uninformed guesses about my motivations... try to stick to the facts and not read your own agenda into my words.

Re: I wanna know...

What exactly are the facts, as you see them, of course?

I was simply trying to have you explain the facts to me. For some reason, you became hesitant in your explanation and wanted to blame it on a "reading challenge" I may have. Talk about labeling! If I have one, I guess that means you will not listen or allow me to be heard.

You said "it has nothing to do with the level of education, unless they have none."

Therefore, it has everything to do with education. The reason for the lack of education is meaningless.

Regardless of the republican label you do not want, you make a good follower then. How does that suit you?
