I was calmly watching the news and then I started to panic!

As I was watching the news tonight the weather reporter started showing pictures of the Thea Foss waterway describing the frozen salt water. All of a sudden it occured to me that my boat is on the Foss.

As I squealed into the parking lot of the marina and slid down the icy ramp to the dock I noticed that a thin layer of ice had formed inside the entire marina.
I jumped onto the boat unlocked and opened the cabin and was suddenly calm when I felt warm as I stepped inside.

When I got home I could finally justify all the money I spent on engine room heaters and cabin heaters for my boat to the wife who had said why do things for the boat cost so much. This investment just saved me a bundle.

If you have shore power at the dock, which I'm assuming you do if you have heaters, you might want to consider a bubbler to keep the water from freezing around your boat.

They are great for peace of mind.

been there before? Jay's from Nawlin. The only frozen water he knows of comes from the freezer.

What is worse still is I had to take it out today to get an estimate for repairs since someone ran into it at the dock last Sunday. I thought te ice would clear when I got into the channel. No such luck I was breaking through ice between 1/4 to 1/2 inch for about 3/4 of a mile before I got to open water.

True, dat, in regard to New Orleans, but I've only been here for 20 years - plenty of time spent in northern climes before that!

as said, the only ice i know usually comes from the freezer. been in snow twice. don't like it.

Guess I can consider myself lucky to live in Ca. the only ice I had to deal with was on the windshield of my truck,and that only happens once in a while. sounds like a great system to have that you invested in.
