I have a 1971 eska 7hp was recomended that I rebuild the carb got the kit wouldnt you know no instruction in it ha ha! So I rebuilt it anyway used my trusty I to set the float got it altoghter back on the motor and gased up the tank. waited til the next morning to start it pulled and pulled nothing check spark it is good looked for gas leaks none checked the fuel tank empty. Now I know my wife hates this thing by now but iI dont think she empty the tank. so I took off the carb and there was gas in the motor but not a tanks worth where did my gas go and what might have I done wrong?

Was there at least a puddle of gas where it had leaked out. If there was and all your fuel lines are good and tight then it is most likely that the needle is not cutting off the fuel flow when the bowl is full. If no fuel has leaked then you have someone stealing gas because a fuel tank of gas wont just disappear.

Hey Jermey thanks for taken the time to read and reply to me but i found out where the gas is going but dont know what to do about it. Seems to be leaking down the lower leg unit and coming out the water intake holes any suggestions on whats happening Thanks Jim

is the float staying open letting fuel run from the carb into engine then down the exhaust into the water intakes???? maybe if the engine was tilted back.. i don't know just throwing it out there. i've had dirt bikes that seemed to like to do this, they just filled the crankcase though

Jim I responded to your message at that other place, these carbs are so simple there deceptive but you still need instructions or she will leak all of your gas....3.85 a gal here in S. IL

Jim you need to check your float for a pin hole, just shake and listen for gas sloshing around in there and then submerge it in sime water and look for bubbles.
