thanks to the guys who told me to clean my carbs. I have a 22ft mako with a johnson 225. I was upset as I was only getting 39mph at WOT, I knew this motor was capable of more. Another main problem that plagued me was that I was getting about 1mpg and blowing through fuel at about 25 gal/day going roughly 25 miles/day. So i took the carbs off and started cleaning and was a little upset because they looked nice and clean. I got 4 done and was starting to get weary so i took out the 5th carb and started cleaning and got to the main jet and was like uuummmmmmm....... it was gone! I was running this whole year on 5 cyl flooding out the 6th cyl by draining full fuel always. Luckinly no damage was done to that cyl. Thats when I was thanking god I had a 2 stroke not a 4 because the oil injection saved that cyl frokm burning out. So i got a new jet and put it in, also the gaskets were all cripmed and off line so i replaced all the gaskets and put them back on. I started it up and started to head out and the motor sounded good, I opened it up and within 5 seconds was up over 40 touching 44 without trimming I was like a little kid on their birthday opening presents:) I trimmed up at WOT and touched 50.6mph:):):) So I went out today and did my typical trip of about 25 miles and filled up before I left and again when I got back in and my eyes almost bugged out of my head when I topped off at 10.4 gallons. So to say the least I had a great day not so much fishin wise but for the boat I couldnt be happier. thanks guys
