I just got a chance to put my new cover on the boat yesterday.
I used the cover finder on the Iboats site and it did list my boat.
well, put the cover on and where it is pieced together with the extra fabric where the top of the windshield goes was made about 2 feet too far aft..
Looks like crap and has all that extra material sagging over the front seats..
I talked to customer service at Iboats and the guy was very nice but stated that it was a semi custom cover. The only thing he could do is talk to the company that makes them. Some how i think they have the wrong measurements for that model boat.
I hope i'm not stuck with this new cover thats no use to me.
Its the new Outdura cover, supposed to be the best cover Iboats sells...:'(

Personally Gary, I'da kinda waited to hear back before I posted about this. If no reasonable satisfaction was forthcoming, then you could dump on them.

Nothing against Iboats,The customer service guy was great.I was wondering about the company that makes the cover and how they get the measurements.
I would be fine with doing some measurements on the boat for them. Heck the factory is 90 miles from me.I would take the boat to them if i needed to.
I just wanted to know if that was normal on the fit of certain covers or does it vary by manufacter..

Re: Iboats Cover, Not happy, fits very poor.

I bought a custom sharkskin cover from Westland for my Boston Whaler Striper 15 through iboats.

Cover was cut for a port console, though all Stripers are starboard console boats. In all other ways it was a very well made cover. I almost kept it anyway.

I called iboats, they called Westland. I returned the cover and got a full refund, including shipping.

Couldn't hope for better service. Maybe being a mod got me extra attention from iboats but to Westland I was just another customer.

Thanks JB,

This was a very well made cover. I just hope the company that makes them can get the correct fit.
I really want the cover, best material i have ever seen on a boat cover.
If they can't get one to fit and i can get a refund i will go with a Westland..

you know, every transaction, and communication, i have had with iboats, has been extremely pleasant. they do everything they can to please us. They depend on the manufacturers, and vendors to represent their product correctly. if it's wrong they make it right.

I think there is a certain amount of trial and error with Semi-custom due to the fact that they are fitting to norms of the boat style and not the specific boat. I would think that they would take it back and you would need to try another brand to get the right fit.. If you can get the right semi-custom fit, you will need a custom made. If you cannot find a custom from the online shops canvas shops can often do this very competitively. I have a canvas shop down the road that would do this for a couple hundred bucks. The main cost being the Sundura they use for the fabric.

I just recieved my new custom cover for my astro quickfire18sc and it also is well made, but fits horable. Way to much extra material, and saggs all over. It looks like it was made for a boat 3 feet longer than mine. problem is the sun is bad on boats here in TX. I wound up with a lot of extra ties on it to shed rain.

IBoats took care of my problem. I decided to keep the super heavy duty cover for winter storage so they are sending me a free set of support poles and straps. It was the thickest material i have ever seen on a cover.Made by Carver.
I also ordered a Westland cover to use this summer. So 500 bucks and i have covers that will last the next 10 years...:)

guys unless the cover comes with the boat when bought, your, not going to get a perfect fit. the only way is to make it yourself, or go to the canvass shop, leave the boat for them to make one. then it might shrink.

Very true TD, I knew i wouldn't get an exact fit.Actually i like the cover to be on the large side. That way i can pull it down over the sides to protect from the sun.The first cover i bought retails for about 800,i gave 235 for it.Its going to be a great winter-storage cover. The Sharkskin i will use during the summer because its light weight and easy to put on.

Custom covers are the only way to go. High initial cost but long time satisfaction.

You get what you pay for.

I bought a Bimini from iboats. Received with obvious factory damage to one of the braces. Iboats had the mfgr send out a whole bow (I only had one of 3 pieces damaged) within 10 days.

Not bad, but the QC, or person loading the shipping container should have caught the damage and corrected it. It was obviously factory damage. The tubing was smashed on the end for about a foot and the shipping container was totally intact.

Gary- I had the exact problem you did. I ordered the "Titan" cover from another catalog company. It fits great, except for the area at the windshield, which appears to be measured incorrectly for my boat, despite using the "fit calculator" they have. I kept it, as the material is awesome. I stored the boat outside all winter and it held up great. I am only hoping that the stress points at the windshield area don't push through too easily, although the material is so heavy that it shouldn't happen right away. It was far less than a custom cover would have cost, but of course the fit isn't exact. We'll see how it holds up.
