Re: Iboats Cover, Not happy, fits very poor. Not Iboats fault!

This is my 1st post here. I've been hanging around BoatingABC.com for awhile and got caught up so I figured I'd check out the Iboats forums.

I have bought 3 CUSTOM covers from Iboats. A sharskin for a 2001 Reinell 190 and a replacement when I ripped it in 2006. We just upgraded to a Chaparral 256SSI and I just ordered another custom last week (haven't got it yet obviously). I have been totally satisfied.

Gary: Glad you got what you needed. There is some room for errors with "semi-custom" covers, as you have noted.

BOOMYAL: Your initial reply is what really sparked my reply here:

"I'da kinda waited to hear back before I posted about this. If no reasonable satisfaction was forthcoming, then you could dump on them."

That's ridiculous. That's kind of like somebody shooting you in the leg and then waiting to see if you actually die before spouting obscenities at them. Makes me wonder, what exactly is the relationship between the board's moderators and Iboats? I hope you guys don't run around here with Iboats taglines running defense for their customer service. They might be great, but trying to censor somebody's response to a disappointing purchase is lame.

Just put on my custom sharkskin for my Searay I ordered this spring. Fits likes a glove. The strap kit is real nice.. I also like where they put in reinforcements. Not just at the windshield but at other spots like the place where the bimini cover mounts and at the bow rails. Every thing seems to line up.

One other positive aspect, at least for me, is that they put the drawstring at the back. when it sits in the water and you want to cinch the cord, it is a lot easier to do it from the swim platform. It is nearly impossible to do it at the bow where alot of them are..

I am pleased, unfortunately I am selling the boat and the new owner will be the beneficiary..

All is good! The new Sharkskin fits very well. The double padding actually lines up with the windshield.
I am going to have a couple more loops sewn in for tiedowns. There is no place to strap it down from about where the windsheild is to the bow.I kind of thought that was strange but not worth complaining about.
I can sew it myself by hand if i need to..:D

Great to hear that the Sharkskin fit well. I am going to file that away for my next cover purchase. Did you vent it at all?
