Re: Iboats forum running slow

Snappingturtle...

I understand that you have a major "pipe" into your location and that you are physically close to the to the CO, however you are located in Germany. iboats in the past has had connectivity issues with people overseas whether their in Australia or in the Netherlands (I think that was where KIZ was for a while - right?)

What kind of latency do you have when you try to ping 70.96.133.130?

When you tracert to forums.iboats.com, how many hops does it take to get to the destination? Are there any routers with horrible latency that could be slowing your connection time?

My point is, just because you have a gigantic pipe, doesn't mean that something between you and iboats could be slowing you down.

Just to toss in my 2 cents:iboats was slower than any other website at my house with ISDN, and it is still slower than any other website with Sprint Mobile Broadband.* iboats is slower than any other website at my parents house.* And at my Sisters house, and at my brothers house.* And at my parents summer house.* And my office. iboats is slow compared to most all other websites regardless of what hardware or internet connection you use.* Its pretty obvious the problem is at iboats end. I'm not posting this to insult iboats.* I'm posting it so iboats is aware of what is obvious to the rest of us.

Edit: Somthing funny is going on. I didn't type those asterisks in my message....

:D Yea, I said early this could sometimes be the case, it was just happening quite often now and just with iboats. Nether I nor iboats can change this.

It is running great today, as it has on days with a lot of traffic, but I have been getting "server errors" from the iboat server, like "server is over loaded, please try later" with iboat logos on the page more, and more often.

This is not a problem between here and there. It is a problem there.

The last problems mentioned (server errors messages from iboats), are the problems, I was talking about, but the conversation keeps going back to operating systems, browsers, and being overseas. These statements, or server errors, is the point that I keep making but are always ignored.

But I am getting tired of repeating myself, so I will just quit posting about this theme. It is not my problem, I have enough of my own to deal with. It will either get better, or it won't. ;)

He gets all the chances he needs tashasdaddy, and be sure you tell him that! :D

If I could help him like you guys help us, I would, but I can't, I have experts for that stuff.

The best I can do is long distance moral support.

I agree completely with Snapping Turtle, and Mark42! It's exactly the results I have found also. I recently tried Firefox, and found it was faster then IE7 at times, But, I found it hard to read, because the text was too fine, and washed out looking! I guess my eyes are too old  I found a way to change the text, but that means it defaults to what you choose (set it at), and it still comes up odd looking, this follows true on other sites I visit also! Sure I like the built in spell checker (never had that before?), but I was shocked to see all the double underlined links! Until I logged in, and read up about them here. I also found I had no "Favorites" on the toolbar??? No way of saving pages like I usually do, I know it had "bookmarks" whatever that is? So, in conclusion, after about 1 week trying Firefox, I'm back to IE7

Same here. I complained several weeks ago and there were no positive results, just an explanation that a new server was being installed. Well, I guess it was, but like I said, no results.

I don't hang here near as much as I used to because of the lack of performance.:rolleyes: I get bored easily.

I'm having the same troubles. I have to wait close to 20 seconds between every click. It doesn't matter if I am home or at work, I get the same delay. I have been getting these speeds for the last few days and only on this site.

Re: Iboats forum running slow

I'm in the same bag last 2 post. REAL slow...and thats 3 different puters. Been week or more, and kinda has me moving on. Too blame a "browser", is simply..well..get the drift?
Other boat and bike forums me are LIGHT years ahead.."Scream and Fly" boat forums is INSTANT.
Maybe need to lay off the "graphics" here..lay off the full skinny, just make it a link..God forbid the poor guy on dial up..
Slow before, too much improve in between didn't help, slow now, and ..who cares...web worldwide...(seems every thing that starts out good, turns bad with "inprovements"...)
Anyway, slow as heck my end too..
My take, is simple. The blue under linked stuff when not logged on is IRRITATING. Random., and makes zero sense.
The SLOW loads flipping forums, slow 'nother subject, the logging in, then a long post reply, and AFTER you have logged in, you post the reply, and it says.."YOU ARE NOT LOGGED IN"...
Anybody here complaining...I'm in your camp...and logged off..

And that will be the last word for now.
The IT guy/s are aware and will look into it to see what the problem is.
Thanks for everyone's input.
