The lucky guy on the boat is the captain. Seeing the world and getting paid around $150,000. a year, nice cozy stateroom, and a chef.

I would classify it this way: The guy on the boat is a skilled professional, who earned his way by logging what must have been thousands of hours, until he worked his way up and was experienced enough as a sailor needs to be take the job. After years of hard work, he now reaps the benefits.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have that kind of money. But I don't think that I would waste it on a yacht that big. Look at all the good that they could do if they donated just half the cost of that yacht. I would much rather buy a nice houseboat and keep it on some out-of-the-way lake so that I could go and relax away from all the world. Perhaps have a little alum fishing boat to go with it. I'm not saying that they didn't work hard (whoever it is) to get that rich, but you sure can't take it with you. As an earlier poster said....how much is too much?

It is a nice boat though:D

Donate to what?

He has employees and expenses because of that thing. That boat is business: parts, supplies, fuel, taxes, revenue. That money is going around and around.

Someone built it. They have employees. The parts suppliers... marinas.... etc. It's part of an industry that is laying off people. I'd much rather see the industry vibrant. Bigger boats take more of everything. When those things start disappearing, then what?

Please, it's an awesome boat. Let's keep it there.

That is how I want to retire!

Sail the carribean with the kids and grandkids!

Don't think I could afford the fuel let alone the boat or crew fees. Even his monthly slip fees would be out of my reach!

I guess I shouldn't worry....Social security will take care of everything! :)

You never know, he's probably up there with his wife squawking at him about something she thought he said about her mother!

good point, Phil. When they imposed an additional "luxury tax" on new yachts and effectively froze the market, the only people who suffered were the guys working at the plants that make them, and support industries--blue collars and trades. The rich targets just put their money elsewhere. The tax was quickly lifted when the Dem who imposed it realized he was hurting his own voters.
