My 4 Hp Johnson/Seahorse is missing the model/serial data plate. I'm thinking the year is between 73'-75 I attached some pictures also that (LOOK IDENTICAL) to the engine that I have, the only numbers I'm able to get off mine are as followed:

J3137536 - welch plug
314779 - cyl head
314791 - Exhaust

314779 is the part number for the cylinder head that was used from 1969 to 1973.
The number on the exhaust housing also started in 1969 but continued right through to 1982.

That I reckon puts yours as somwhere from '69 to '73.

Based strictly on what it looks like, it is a 1972 "50th Anniversary Series"

I'd say 1972 as well. Does it have a little thing on the front that says "50th Anniversary"? J3137536 from the welch plug is the serial number and would identify the year if one had a list of serial numbers that new. Its possible that your dealer may be able to tell you the year from the serial number, but since no one here seems to have this information I doubt your dealer will. Its worth a try just the same.
