Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

Looks like a 16/18' Starcraft Supersport(aka SS). From the green color I'd guess it's a mid-70s maybe 1974?

There is a thread in the starcraft forums that I started that has links to brochures to help identify the various hulls they made.

Buy it:D

That motor has been covered so that should help get her going again. Those old starcraft hulls are classic and I'm currently looking for an SS myself.

Good luck!

What part of the country are you in by the way?...you can add it to your profile if you want. Seems like you've got some good boat deals out your way.

Pictures of the $100 bass boat? I'm curious what kind of shape it's in for that price.

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

I can find pictures of the bass boat..

updated my profile.. Live in Springfield MO... middle of "La USA"

The bass boat of course has it's issues...
from what I can tell, the transom is solid..
Floors are soft in spots...

so who knows.. the seats and such.. pretty much shot...
I have a trailer that will haul it, and a 150 Suzuki that will propell it...

so I don't know...

I am not certain it is a SS...

I know, I know nothing...
however, I do not think it is as DEEP as the Deep V SS boat I have seen?
Did they make a shallow V?
And the rear, I will post here... is not a V per say...

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

I'm still collecting brochures to post on that thread so we'll need to get some from the 70s to make sure.

I've got a few more to post that may help. It may not be an SS but measuring the hull should let us know exactly what it is. There are a few starcraft gurus that will be along shortly to help with the positive ID for ya.

Rick...Kev where are ya?:D

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

I had my son take these measurements...

The width and depth were done on the transom...

The length of the boat is 16' 3", Width: 4' 9", Depth: 2' 7".

I think... Until I see a title...

that the little green Starcraft is a 60's Mariner V 16'

Azonic I would go with a Mariner as well . The main reason is the side consoles dont look like SS ones they look like they were added afterwards.

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

The measurements are pretty close for the 16' Mariner except the transom depth is off by 10"...it looks like in the brochure the picture is the 14' so it looks smaller. Either way it is a nice rig at a good price:D

I get trigger happy when I see an open bow SC I call them all SS's LOL :)

Good luck with her!

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

Your right about the transom height...
My son was trying to remember to many numbers, and got off by the 10-12"...

I did buy the boat...

Took apart the lower unit, checked the impeller...
(good and soft, plyable, good to go)

Ran wire through all the water passages to make sure of no mud dobbers...

Hooked up the controls, wired in the start switch to the battery directly...

Turned her over a few times....
That went well...

Got fresh gas from my other tank...
Primed the carb, set the choke...
Cranked her... and varooooom.... a 5 year revival in 30 minutes....
(good ole 1977 Rude!!)

Funny thing is... I messed with the motor and NEVER looked at the ID plate to see what she is... the title only says 16' Starcraft 1968......

More tomorrow...

Hey AZ glad to hear that she fired right up:D You've already won half the battle...a little work and that hull will be ready to float and you're on your way.

Congrats on the purchase and good luck:)

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

Okay, verified that the boat is a Mariner...

Also, re-reouted the wires and cables for the motor...

Where do I get cable ends? The shifter one is cracked....

Thanks

Re: ID this old Starcraft please?

Cool boat, I'm glad to see that there are some around here. I'm down in West Plains, went to college in Springfield. I'm going to be looking for an old Starcraft open bow next year. My wife is finishing teacher certification through MSU, when she gets a job, I can start buying toys again :).

Keep posting pics, I'm consumed with aluminum Starcrafts right now.
