Also Parkers, but I am a little unclear how these boats that are primarily designed with fishing in mind, serve the OPs needs.

The Parker is a hardcore fishing boat. A Parker 25' Pilot house was on the short list when I bought the Grady W/A.

The Parker is either the number #1 or the #2 boat on the Chesapeke Bay depending on if you're talking to a Grady or a Parker guy. :D:D

FWIW: I personally can't see "living" on a 22' boat for more than a day or two but to each there own I guess.

Agreed, I would personally want a 27-30ft cruiser if I'm going to be doing multiple overnights just got the benefit of a stand-up shower and queen-size berth. A SeaRay 268 Sundancer would probably be the smallest I'd deal with on waters that big. Preferably something in 29-30' range so I could have a 10' beam. That pushes it to the limit of trailerability though, as most 1/2 ton trucks can't pull an 8K lbs boat plus trailer within certified limits.

Still, if I wanna cruise the great lakes for days on end, I'd want some room to stretch out, and likely twin screws to rely on as a backup for an engine failure out of sight of land. I'm a wuss though.

The OP said he was OK with a 21 ft. cuddy as far as accommodations are concerned, I'm with the rest of you, but thinking more about his specific question . . . He's not going to live aboard.

The one thing he talked about was the ability to trailer it to the boat launch and launch and retrive on his own, I know from experience that I would not like to launch my 270 sundancer by myself, its a big pig.:D
But if I was going to spend some time out on the water, you need the ammenities, or at least a tent.

You might also check out Ranger Tugs. Pretty similar to the C-dory or Rosborough in concept.
I'm thinking their new R-29 would be the perfect retirment boat for me in about 20 years.

Me too, I really like that boat for it's innovative and clever use of space. Coincidentally, I learned that the R29 was designed by the same guy who designed my current boat, a Regal 2550 LSC, a boat I chose for it's innovateive and clever use of space. Small world.

Just spent an hour perusing the Ranger Tugs website and associated links to articles and videos. Fantastic boat.

Re: Ideal Cruiser ... what do you think?

A few years ago I decide I wanted a Tiara and nothing else. I now own a Tiara 2900 Open because it's the smallest (recent) Tiara I can buy with a cabin suitable for several overnights in a row. After owning a Tiara, I don't think I'll buy another boat brand. This boat is just head and shoulders above most other cruisers in this size range. The quality and sturdiness is apparent everywhere, I wouldn't even know where to start. It's a little big for trailering though, with a beam over 11', but if you plan on doing some real crusing, I don't see why you'd want to do that with a lesser boat.
