I think that is a serial number, Dawg. Check again for the model number, and tell us a little more about the engine.

Re: identify/date evinrude

I have not found a "serial number" yet. The lable clearly says Model and A115632 is stamped next to it. I have Patent dates Aug 22, 1911 Dec 19, 1911 Feb 19 1914 Mar 31, 1914 Mar 23, 1915 July 29, 1915 Nov 30, 1915 Jan 25,1916 and july 18,1916 on the same tag. I have patent dates Evinrude Magneto Mar 2?, 1915 July 20, 1915 and jan 26,1916 so I have to assume that it was produced somewhere 1916-17?

I have posted pictures on my website www.sheepdawg.com just click on the outboard link...

Re: identify/date evinrude

Thru annother source I found out that this is likley a 2hp produced as late as 1919. One of the things I would like to know if I do restore this motor what is the likely fuel. Is this a gas engine? I assume it is a 2 stroke so what octane and mixture should I use? I have to assume that the likleyhood of finding any manual is out of the question but does anyone know books I can use to begin restoring this machine?

Hi sheepdawg - were not ignoring you here, that's just a pretty hard outboard to ID.

There was a four stroke introduced in the 20's, but I think that's the older design you have there.
Hopefully Chinewalker will be by soon, he should be able to fill you in a bit.
You may be able to find some useful information in this thread.

Good luck!
