Hi, I have been lurking here for a while & find most info I need, But!
I have in my shed a grey 3cyl jonno was told 25hp but it seems too big for that hp, most ID is missing i found on the round shiny plug (between the top two cyls) G4687343 The motor is pull start, tiller steer, manual gearchange, has a saftey cutout button thingy? on the tiller, 4 blade prop & is very heavy for me to lift, maybe getting old? Hey Ray got any pics of this unit.A grey motors were made in the early eighties,about three cyl rope start that probably 65 commercial,

A guess would be '96 to'98.

Thats a 1999 Johnson 25 or 35. This engine was avialable in both 25 an 35 hp versions. I see the oil injection has been removed.

+1 with Lenard. 1999, 2000, model number something like this:

J25RL3EEM. That "3" in there indicates three cylinders. "R" is rope start.
No real difference in the model years regarding parts.....

Thankyou gents, I have not had anything to do with this type of motor & was a bit concerned as to how heavy this thing is & thought maybe it was bigger hp. As Lenard has said something is missing as it has i small "oil light"? by the pull start, & above that on the cowling is a sticker reading 50:1 fuel mix. Thanks for your help, Cheers Ray.
Ps as this was bought to be an auxilliary on our 21ft chivers I will have to build a substantial bracket system for it!! & get some mechanical help to lift it up

Hello again, Lenard & daselbee are on the right track as i found the numbers on the carbies & with a Google search confirmed it as a 1999 25 Hp (there was also some date stamps on the f/glass covers), so once again thanks for your help, I have other questions re g/box & will start another thread.
