Identify my b-day present?

Good Day all.

Brand new to the forum and hoping some wise person can help me out.

My darling wife bought me a much desired boat for my B-day. It's a fixer-upper but that ok by me because it all cosmetic stuff that will be a winter project.

My problem is that the ID/compliance plate is gone off the boat and appears to have been for years. In Ontario it is law that it must be in place so I would like to contact the manufacturer to attempt getting a replacement. However, there is no indication who built it.
I would also like to try to find authentic replacements for the bow and stern lights.

So, I'm hoping someone will know the boat since I am having NO luck at all finding pics on the net. I suspect it is late 60's or very early 70's, and it's a 15 footer.
I've been using the bow light as an identifying feature while searching to no avail, since it seems somewhat unique.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

you will need to post a few more comments and then you can post a pic of your new to you boat. I bet these guys will have the model and manufacture of the boat in no time, so,,, just reply a few times to this post ( two I believe) and you will be good to go.

where about in Ontario are you from, just a general idea. I do most of my boating north of Kingston.

Morning.

I'm just north of Barrie. Do most of mine on Lake Couchiching and Lake Dalrymple.
Thanks for replying. It let me upload the pic, but just not showing it yet :)

I'll be on here quite a bit I suspect. Over the winter will be cutting the floor out and replacing it, and will be gutting a very soft transom to put in new wood. Got it reinforced with 1/16" steel plate for now just to enjoy it safely for the remainder of this season. And of course, the usual spidering repair and paint required on a boat this old :)

Thanks for the reply. It's just one of those stickers you can buy at auto stores. Looks a little like the logo on the hood of an old Firebird. PO stuck them all over the boat I would assume because he thought it dressed it up.

Is the a HIN on the upper right of the transom. The first three letters will tell you the manufacturer.

I have not found any, but with the plate gone I didn't know where else to look. I will check there as soon as I get home from work.
Inside or outside of the transom?

... and I bet with the numbers on the side of the boat Transport Canada can get you the info you seek, just may take a while. You can get the ownership transferred over and I suspect you will get year and manufacturer.

Well Roffey, TC won't tell me anything about the boat until I change the licence # info to my name because of privacy laws, and I can't change it until I find out more about the boat LOL
Vicious circle of government agencies.

So I need to find that HIN and contact previous owner and get all his personals to put on the application and then wait for snail mail.

Outside of transom looks like a vin #

Well, my spoiled wife got off work early so I got her to check and there apparently is no HIN on the transom of the boat.
I'll double check when I get home, but it doesn't look good.

Welcome aboard ... that's a late 60's early 70's boat. It's no surprise there's no HIN on it. Sometimes up by the helm, and sometimes back under the splash well there is another plate with manufacturer and serial number.

After that you might also try looking around in HERE some.

Well I thought it was worth a try, LOL. I bought an older boat and got it transferred to my name but there was a HIN stamped into the hull and I knew the make so I started further ahead than you. I just did not have any paper work for the boat.

I thought I read on here somewhere if you restore a boat you can say it is a homemade/restoration and get it registered that way and do you have a bill of sale?

Nice boat. I think it 'might' be an early to mid 60's on the year. What year is the motor? That 'might' get you near the right year. Maybe :)
