I have a 20 foot 1978 bayliner. It originaly had a volvo penta I/o but I guess the person that bought it two owners ago blew the engine and replaced it.Now I have a volvo penta 280 outdrive and an unknown engine inboard. The valve cover still has the original sticker saying waukesha motor company, pleasurecaraft marine engine division.Witch I recently found to be volvo mfg.So I got the serial off the block and begane searching .The serial # C4OE 9425-B on the block. The only thing I could find was this :1963 260 Cobra (CSX2000-CSX2075) would have a C3OE-615-C block casting code<br /><br />1963-1965 289 Cobra (CSX2076-CSX2589) would have either a C3OE-B or a C4OE-B block casting code<br /><br />Most of the 1964 289 Cobras came with a hipo 289 C4OE-1015-C block. Most early 289 Cobras came with a 260 block (C3OE-B C4OE-B) that started life out as a 260 block originally<br />(Most Cobra people don't know this).

Can you shoot us a picture of the engine? That would make this easy. I thought Pleasurecraft used Chevy blocks, but who knows.

Re: identify my engine??

Pleasurecraft used both gm and ford based engines. and they also sold the volvo drive units under their name to a couple of boat companies. The engine that PCM marinized at theat time would have been a 302 not a 260 as PCM or waukesha was started in 1973 when the 260 was out of production for at least 8 years but original owner could have rebuilt a 260 to use in the boat.
