Identify old Evinrude

How do I identify an old 50 Hp Evinrude outboard when the motor and mount do not match?

Look for a serial number stamped on one of the water passage coolent frost plugs.

I don't think thats the actual name of it, I forget what rudes call em, its a silver cover on the block, about the size of a quarter. usually one on the side, and one on top. The number printed on it, is the serial number.

Ahhh yes. The Evinrude Big Twin/ Lark. One thing I like about these, is the dual carb set up. Very easily made into a racing engine.:D:D

Thanks all!! Now I can get a manual and start tinkering.

Now how do I stop the idle screws from vibrating out of adjustment?

Replace the retainers, part number 315232. They are the keyhole-shaped plastic pieces that the needles go through. Of course you know your linkage between them is missing, right? But the linkage is not realy necessary

Is there linkage between the needle valves? Can I get it? Or just use teflon tape on the threads?
