I,m trying to ID which bell housing I have, Its a 280 DP leg with the ADAQ30A diesel engine. (they were produced between 1983 & 86) This is further to my post on removing said leg. Anyways its green in colour. The seal had a retaining clip that it was butted up against and the bearing is held in place by an other clip with the shaft having a smaller one on it .
I,m pretty sure it is the two bearing system which means the motor has to come out. Is there any other way of confirming this as it looks like it is becoming a winter project if this is the case.
Thanks Kilwinning

Thanks for for that info Fun times , I have prob typed that model number so many times it's starting to get blurry at least that's my excuse. The links you gave me are only available to US residents, I'm on Vancouver island. I was pretty sure it had the two bearing system , but now I'm not so sure ( I seen a borgwarner flywheel cover that had the seal and clips in the same configuration as mine ) at least the visible parts. Is there a way to tell with the serial number.
Thanks Kilwinning

Thanks for the quick response, I couldn't open it because it said you have to be located in the US. The serial number is 301408 , pn is 867800. 8433, actually i was able to punch in the PN and the product name TS2-A-AQ-2 came up along with the year, on the prod number. Search only goes back to 1990 on the serial number, does any off this mean anything.

Have you tried doing a online search under "Volvo Penta AQAD30A Parts Catalog" to see what comes up in your area?

You may know this already but the serial number should be a ten digit number much like this number (3102095575) for example taken from this resent post, http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...44869-pinion-gear-needed-1990-dp-a-1-95-drive.

Running his serial 10 digit number looks/read like this here in the US. that is,

Thanks for all the time you've taken to answer my questions, That's the only serial number that's on the tag on the transom shield, I took your advice and did a search on a parts catalog and
The info I was looking for was there , I have a manual for the motor but nothing else so I'll get on that, I have to pull the motor so looks like I'll be putting this off until the fall, in the mean time there is enough other things to take care of on this boat so ill concentrate on that.
Thanks again
