I've had a couple of disasters from using vaseline on rubber seals, ....never again. If it is the "right" rubber compound you will be OK, but with all the specialty lubes available just to avoid this, why take the chance?
14 years of working on cars. Not a problem with any seals using Vaseline.
If you search around you find many people use Vaseline. Transgel usually comes in a tub. Most would only use it once.
