Re: Identifying manufacturer of my boat

I don't see any guesses yet as to the make/model on this. The only guess I have had so far is from a friend that says he "thinks" it may be a Slick Craft, but I'll leave it to the experts here. This is my first "real" water craft in years. I just hope this doesn't end up in the mystery boat section...lol

Re: Identifying manufacturer of my boat

Good luck Medic, I have not seen a boat just like this one but the hull does look as if it could be a 60s Slickcraft but tke windshild looks more like the 70s, back then sometimes a manufacturer would sell there older moulds to some small local company and they would build boats off the mould, I think that may be what you have, that would explain the mismatch in styles,I really don't know--Bob

Re: Identifying manufacturer of my boat

From the looks of it, the windshield IS from another boat. I looked closer and it indeed is NOT the original windshield. Now that just leaves us to find out 1) If this is a Slickcraft and 2)What year?

As far as for the other fella, the only person I know of right off with a similar name is Swarcz, but he is on the EMS side as I am. Might ring a bell if I knew what engine/truck or squad and what Battalion he runs in and what unit number.

Re: Identifying manufacturer of my boat

Very interesting boat. Neat the way the top of the boat actually comprises a majority of the transom. Usually the transom is entirely part of the hull mold and not part of the upper deck mold. Do not be surprised if the transom is full of rotting wood. Drill a few inspection holes from the inside to check for rotten/wet wood in the transom and get a full inspection of the floor/stringers done before spending one penny on it. Then decide if it worth keeping or buying another. Project boats are cheap. Some are in much better condition than others.

Pros for keeping this boat are the seats. Being molded in, they probably just need throw cushions. Low expense. And it is very unique. When you start working on it, put everything you take off in a box. Don't toss anything until after you're done. You never know what little piece is unique and can't be replaced, or you need it to make a new one from, etc.

Good luck!

Mark

Well, like I said, everything is pretty solid with the exception of the piece of plywood on the back end, that is something that is getting replaced asap. The cushions are wrapped around plywood. For those, I plan on removing the rotted wood and re-wrapping the covers and new foam around the new wood. A new paint job is something I already have planned as well. I am going to try and find a matching blue that is close to the original and re-paint the blue sections of the boat. Also, I plan on installing a new bow light, reconnecting the marine horn and installing a stereo system and a marine radio and a rearview mirror. All minor stuff. Any fiberglass work that I need to do is pretty well superficial cosmetics. I want to keep this as original as I can. I also plan on installing an speedo on it as well as I have noticed that there was not one installed on it originally...or perhaps a new cluster package. Right now though, my only primary concern at this time is finding out for sure what make and model it is. Once I have that figured out, then I can move on. I already have my motor of choice....not really, but the price was right...lol...and that's a early 70's era Chrysler 45 horse outboard in mint condition. At 200 bucks, I couldn't go wrong with that...lol

Could be that he is retired. There are more than 1700 fire fighters and over 240 medics, it's difficult to know who everyone is. Kinda like DPD, I have about 100 or so friends on the department, but there are about 3500 cops out there. So many new faces and not enough time to learn all of their names.

I Don't Know what you've Got..........
But,... I'll Bet that If there Is a cast-in VIN, it's right there under that pc. of Plywood, just to the right of center....Just below the end if the fin/line that comes around the corner..........

Re: Identifying manufacturer of my boat

The VIN on my boat was on a metal stick on label on the stern.(like the labels used for capacity nowadays). It was mostly gone, but fortunately enough was left to register the boat.

I'll bet yours was installed in a similar fashion. That hull looks to be early to mid 60's.

That interior looks familiar for some reason. I too would guess mid-late 60's. I can tell you for sure it isn'ta Glastron, but that's no news flash, i'm just a glastron nut. That transom is unique looking.l Iknow I've seen that design somewhere before, just can't lay my finger on it.

I went and looked on that site...it does have a resemblance to the Glass Magic. I just wish I could get the pics posted onto that site too under mystery boats to find out for sure.
