Identifying OMC cobra outdrive

I have a 1994 Four Winns Horizon 210 bowrider. It has an OMC 5.0 EFI, Cobra outdrive. The outdrive number is T0786182OMC Cobra. Is this a Volvo Penta? I want to order a transom kit online and want to make sure I need a 1994 and not a 1993 which seems to be different.

I can't help you with the Serial Number part of it, do you have the full model number of the engine? That would be more help.
Another easy way to tell a 93 Cobra had the raw water pump on the back of the outdrive, the 94 Cobra SX would have an engine driven raw water pump.
The 93 would also have a shift interrupt system on the engine.

I am looking at the plate on the outdrive. Prod # 3868076 Ratio 1.66 Serial # T0786182 When I open the engine hatch, the pump on the bottom left with two hoses must be the circulating water pump?

I want to change out gimbal and boots. Just bought the boat, 170 hours on the meter, but don't know enough about the history. Took on some water on a test run. Sounds like a bearing nose too. Plan on buying a transom kit, aftermarket, and install that, change fluids, .... Need a new prop and a shop manual.

That is the SX Cobra outdrive. Basically a Volvo in OMC paint. Do you happen to have the full model number for the engine? I have links to all the OEM (Volvo) manuals for your engine and drive, just want to make sure which ones you need.

The 86-93 OMC Cobras were flat across the top of the drive whereas the 94-98 Joint Venture Volvo/OMCs had a hump on top.....
This pic is the pure OMC Cobra...if yours looks exactly like this..flat across the top....that's what it is...if it has a hump across the top of the drive...then its the later model joint venture one...

He has an SX Lou, the numbers told the story.
It's actually easy to tell at a glance with the product number (spec number is what volvo calls it)
OMC used numbers starting with 98 and were 6 digits long. 98XXXX
The SX models all start with a 386 and are 7 digits long. 386XXXX

Thanks guys. This story is turning out ok. The seller discounted the boat because it was an OMC and he said parts might be hard to find. I feel better now. What size prop would have been standard for this set up? 5.0EFI 21'

There is no "Standard" prop for any boat. But if you post all the info over in the Prop forum, I would bet money you can get one that will work the best.

I felt like I won the lottery when I found out mine was a joint venture Volvo.

I felt like I got a pretty good deal on it because it was an OMC. When I found out it wasn't the obsolete model, it made the deal that much better.

They say a blind hog can find an acorn every now and then.

Not sure. Mine is a 190 HP at the prop.

The HO has the 351 heads is the only difference that I know of.

I'd like to put a 4 barrel and intake to improve the torque (never enough).

I can get up 2 slaloms with a 21 Pitch stainless and still run 50 WOT, but is it ever enough?

The model # 50FACPMDM off engine Serial # T01272211

Any manual would be helpful. I need to change the gimbal. Ordered parts and they are sitting on bench waiting to be installed.

Hey guys, my lower unit just went on my 1993 Fourwinns 190 Horizon. It has a Omc/Cobra and it was attached to a Ford 5.0L engine. In my search to find a replacement, Ebay, Craigslist..etc I see that some units differ..or do they? I found a Serial # of T076880I and a Model # of 988103. What can I use to replace this? I've got three weeks until I go to Lake George NY on vacation! Gotta bring her!

Hey Don... if you have a link to 1990 cobra 4.3 with the Cobra outdrive I'd love to have it. All I ever see is Seloc and have heard they suck.
