Yeah, jet or inboard, it's the carbon monoxide poisoning that kills people every year. Teak surfers usually don't wear life jackets either so it's a disaster waiting to happen.

When wakesurfing, I'm 6 feet above the water behind and my face isn't laying right behind it.
Also why FAE exists for people...

In the open air engines produce vary little carbon monoxide, CO is produced when there is to little oxygen (like in an enclosed space or with an engine running vary rich). There wouldn't be enough back there to kill a person. CO has to be at pretty high concentrations and/or over a long time.

Looks fun but I wouldn't try it with an io.

Much closer and much lower, which puts you in the station wagon effect behind the boat. You are breathing hard in the CO2 bubble behind the boat.

That wasn't a jet... it was an inboard ski boat, probably a v drive to be exact. (if you tried that behind a jet it would peel you off in an instant!) And yes, it can be done in a completely safe manner. Newer wake boats are coming with underwater exhaust outlets, as well as the fresh air link posted above.

To think I thought I was a fool by having the wife tow me in a floating chair while trying to hold onto a ski rope. To give the guys credit, they held on a lot longer then I did.
