Just curious where the idle adjustment screw is located

Depending on which carburetor is on the engine, my first guess is the bottom plate, front of the carburetor.

There are two screws there, but they seem to have no effect on the idle.

Those are the idle air/fuel mixture screws. The Idle screw is located on the bracket attached to the throttle plate shaft. The one that moves when you move the throttle control handle.

If it's a Quadrajet as many are - the 2 screws at the bottom front are idle mixture screws. Once you have the idle set around 650 you turn each one in til the motor stumbles then back out about a quarter turn.
On my carb the idle adjustment is on the port side near where the throttle cable attaches to the throttle linkage. It's a screw which you can easily reach when facing the motor from inside the back seat on most boats.
Take off the carburetor cover and flame arrestor when you do this adjustment so you can see what you are doing.

If you posted what carb you had, you would get better help. Is it a 2bbl or 4bbl carb?

Sorry, it's a 4 BBL carb. I thought the 350 Mags only came with 4 BBL.

nope, they came with the 2bbl Mercarb, the 4bbl Quadrajet, and the 4bbl Webber. Still need to know which carb you have.
When you asked, I thought you said 97, only i 4bbl then, sorry.
