Yes I have a 1993 Evinrude 15hp. Wanted some info on the idle adjustment knob in the shifter handle. Does this knob work like cruise control so to speak? Just screw it in and it sets the speed according to where the throttle is located? I believe mine is broken, just wanted to ask before I order one. Thx

I’m not completely sure about this but I do believe your correct it is for adjusting the tension of the throttle much like cruise control.
If it were on a sail boat you could advance the throttle and tighten the knob so it won’t back off easily.
hope that helps

It is for setting the idle speed only.---It is not cruise control.-----Not an easy item to replace.

It is not an idle knob it is a throttle lock to set a speed for trolling. Clearly stated in owners manuals from OMC.

No that's not right

The part illustrated IS the idle speed control (#6 in the parts diagram on this site)

The throttle lock for setting a trolling speed is # 23

The idle sped knob needs quite a bit of twiddling to make much difference

Open the throttle slightly, twiddle the knob then close the throttle down to the new idle setting.

I forget which way increases and which way decreases the rpm

“Clearly stated in owners manual”. Well sir, I don’t have an owners manual laying around. Thank you for answering my question.
