greetings from new zealand.I have a 1995 johnson ocean runner that wont idle properly.I have changed the plugs. And put a water seperator on.This has made a difference. But not totally cured it.I noticed when changing the filter there was a lot of water in the filter.I have not changed the inline filter, should I do this?Timing is been checked. And the idle has been set right even a little high.Mostly seems to happen when I put it in gear at low speeds.Any help would be great.Sorry bout the long message

Re: idle problem.

If you had water, in the fuel system, you can bet your carburetors are fouled.

The only fix is a thorough cleaning of each, with new kits.

If you do not do it, you can count on a major failure (piston melt down).

You need to follow DJ's advice and while you are at it install an in line fuel filter/water seperator. It looks like an automotive oil filter.
