Good Morning Everone,

Can someone tell me where the idle screw is on a Merc 470 2BBl carb?

It looks like it's the screw closest to the front of the boat. It seems it's a stopper type setup. It stops the linkage where ever you set it. I took it out yesterday all day and it ran great but I noticed it would idle real low (500 RPMS) and die every once in a while when I put it into gear. I just had the carb rebuilt by a professional Merc mechanic.

Thanks for the help.

Hard to say where it's at, what year is this 470, and do you have a Rochester or Mercarb carburator.
The Mercarb has a single idle mixture screw and the Rochester has 2

Hi Don,

It's a 1987 Merc 470. I believe it's a merc carb.
