Idle speed problems after long runs

I have a 40 hp 1989 mariner with oil injection. After the motor has been run for a while it will die when shifting from neutral to forward. At the start of the day or after it has cooled it runs fine. I posted on the same problem a few weeks back and found that my gas tank was not venting well. Fixing that has reduced the problem but not eliminated it.

The carbs were rebuilt fairly recently but I haven't checked the fuel pump. Should the bulb in the fuel line stay firm when the motor is running?

I should mention that sharkcat gave me some pointers on this problem earlier. I did the link & synch as he suggested and adjusted the idle mixture screws. It seems that something is changing as the motor warms up. All of the help is greatly appreciated.
