I fully expected that people would buy those timing fixtures, use it once, and resell it on e-bay. But that doesn't seem to be the case. People must like them and keep them.

OK, I'm going with .020" @ highest point on cam. And Racer, I respect your knowledge but your bedside manner needs some work. Don't assume you are always talking to an idiot. By the way, my 1962 Evinrude electric start Lark's flywheel does NOT have any timing marks on it whatsoever. It's got teeth for the starter, It's got teeth for the generator. belt. It's got a notch for an emergency start cord. It's got a "2" stamped on it. That's it my friend. Timing marks? Zilch. What would these mythological timing marks look like pray tell? - Pete

PS ease up on the exclamation points !!!

For all the years ( nearly 40 ) that they used the universal magneto the timing marks are on the flywheel.

Focus your eyes on the timing marks on the mag plate while you slowly rotate the flywheel. You will see the flywheel mark pass by, two times per revolution.

OH, THERE THEY ARE !! (note the exclamation points). Who doesn't like a good Easter Egg Hunt this time of year. Coupled with April Fools Day no less. - Pete
